Folks,
<div><br>
</div>
<div>As many of you already know, we are planning to organize a BoF at SC. We are in the process of finalizing the panelists and topics to discuss. Please see below the list and suggest some names/new interesting questions.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Panelist:</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Research side - Marc Snir (Argonne), alternative/backup?<br>
System administration and operations - Marc Stearman, alternative/backup?<br>
Industry - Cory Spitzer, alternative/backup?<br>
User community - Joe Walsh at Welstinghouse, alternative/backup?<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>Topic:<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>- What are you doing when you benchmark?<br>
- What are the current limitation of our practices in benchmarking, e.g., variance in the benchmarks and reproducible results?</div>
<div>- Where are file systems going and how do you know you got there?<br>
- You have to benchmark. Or do you? What about Burst buffers and NVM benchmarking?</div>
<div>- Please add more. These are just initial thoughts that we discussed in last couple of meetings. We should refine more here.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Thanks,</div>
<div><br>
