Folks,
As many of you already know, we are planning to organize a BoF at SC. We are in the process of finalizing the panelists and topics to discuss. Please see below the list and suggest some names/new interesting questions.
Panelist:
Research side - Marc Snir (Argonne), alternative/backup?
System administration and operations - Marc Stearman, alternative/backup?
Industry - Cory Spitzer, alternative/backup?
User community - Joe Walsh at Welstinghouse, alternative/backup?
Topic:
- What are you doing when you benchmark?
- What are the current limitation of our practices in benchmarking, e.g., variance in the benchmarks and reproducible results?
- Where are file systems going and how do you know you got there?
- You have to benchmark. Or do you? What about Burst buffers and NVM benchmarking?
- Please add more. These are just initial thoughts that we discussed in last couple of meetings. We should refine more here.
Thanks,
Andrew and ∂t
